I practice an integrative model of counselling which is informed by the following three major theoretical approaches to counselling and psychotherapy:
- Psychodynamic
- Humanistic
- Transpersonal
Psychodynamic counselling stresses the importance of unconscious processes and past experiences in determining your present behaviour. We may explore your childhood relationships with your parents or other significant people in your life to gain a greater understanding of yourself and how you relate to others today.
Humanistic counselling encourages you to explore your feelings and take responsibility for your thoughts and actions. The emphasis is on self-development and achieving your highest potential.
Transpersonal counselling recognises levels of experience that take us beyond our usual sense of self. We might work with the different parts of your persona or your sense of a higher self.
My integration of these three different approaches enables me to work in a flexible way to suit your individual needs. I will support you and I will challenge you in a confidential and non-judgemental environment.
I am a member of the BACP and adhere to its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I also work at the Fountain Centre at the Royal Surrey County Hospital which supports people living with cancer.
